Word of the Year...

It has been a few good months since my last post....the shame. I have to admit that 2015 was not the best for me. The events that occurred in 2015 took all my strength and energy just to get through!

But, on a another note, 2016 is now here and in full swing. I am officially leaving 2015 in the past, learning and looking forward to what 2016 holds.

To guide me in 2016, I am taking a page from my very inspiring and motivating cousin Vernette who told me of her "word of the year". Instead of making New Years resolutions and goals, which is still a very good plan to have in this new year, she decided to give herself a word of the year to guide her. She chose the word "focus". Reflecting, I have to admit that "focus" also applies directly to me. The things that I am trying to accomplish in 2016 are going to require tons of focus. But, I felt that "focus" wasn't deep enough to guide me on my 2016 journey.

So, for 2016, my word of the year is going to be TENACITY.

Tenacity, according to Oxford Dictionary, is the quality or fact of being very determined. Determination not only requires focus, but also dedication, heart and belief in yourself and in your strength. In order to embody what tenacity entails, I'm going to have to dig deep within my soul and pull out all the focus, dedication and belief I can manage.

I have a very bad habit of not challenging myself. So this year, I want to challenge myself to be tenacious. I  AM determined to accomplish all my goals for 2016! The thing is, I know I have all that it takes to accomplish these goals, I'm just so stuck in my zone that I'm afraid to change my "comfortable" ways and challenge myself.

Clearly staying in my comfort zone is not working for me. It is time to switch things up and try something new. According to Albert Einstein, insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I know for a fact that I am not insane, but according to the definition I AM!

The treatment for my insanity will be TENACITY.

So what ever your 2016 goals are, I encourage you to also put with those goals a "word of the year". It may seem simple, but living by a word may be more beneficial than crossing off an entire list of goals. The bottom line is, what ever you want to accomplish in 2016 lies solely in yourself.

Best Wishes,
Azaria
